| Dear MDHA members, I would like to report to you that the Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners (MSBDE) met last Friday, August 2, 2019. I am very pleased to say that a definition change with respect to direct supervision was discussed at this meeting. The Rules and Regulations committee will meet before the next MSBDE meeting, which is currently scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2019. A vote on a definition change is scheduled to occur at this meeting. I would like to personally thank the MSBDE members, especially dental hygiene representative Laura Richoux, for their continued dedication and commitment to both the dental and dental hygiene professions. These members work hard to promote dental services in the state, and we appreciate this growing partnership with MDHA.Together, we can grow quality care and appropriate access to oral health throughout Mississippi. We will keep you posted on the results of the upcoming meeting.
